Sound in the Cinema and Beyond

In this issue

I am extremely pleased that an opportunity arose that made it possible for me to invite sound scholar Randolph Jordan to be a guest editor for this special double-issue on “Sound in the Cinema and Beyond.” I know that the material presented here is a result of some very long and arduous work by Jordan (just how long and arduous only he knows!). In the spirit of adventure we have included PDF versions of each text, giving the issue more of an ‘old-school’ journal feel (for those who like that sort of thing). Somewhat of an ironic gesture given that many of these essays deal with issues in cutting edge sound-image technology and have a decidedly contemporary interdisciplinary approach. Thanks Randolph for your sterling work. (Donato Totaro, ed.)
